Broncos training camp storylines: Bubble players

During training camp and preseason games, it’s hard not to keep track of the players sitting on the roster bubble and trying to decipher whether they should stick around or not.

The NFL has a unique way of forming a final roster and gives teams 53 slots to do so. This season, teams are going to get an additional 16-player practice squad in addition to that, giving them much more wiggle room.

The big thing with that is having to get players through waivers after choosing to leave them off the 53-man roster. All the other teams in the league have 24 hours to place a claim on those players and oftentimes, the team that waived that player still has an interest in developing them further.

This is what happened a few seasons ago with backup quarterback Kyle Sloter.

A few key bubble players to keep tabs on in Broncos camp this summer will be wide receiver Travis Fulgham, linebackers Aaron Patrick and Christopher Allen, defensive back Essang Bassey and safeties P.J. Locke and Jamar Johnson, to name a few.
