Denver Broncos who need a hot start in training camp #3: Damarea Crockett, RB

Damarea Crockett can potentially play some special teams for the Denver Broncos. In terms of running the football, it does not appear that he is going to be a difference maker.

The Broncos have a good duo in Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon. Those two players are going to be the heart and soul of the running game. The expectation is that Williams will be the guy going forward.

The competition Crockett will get to face this training camp is against Mike Boone. Boone hardly got a chance to show what he could do because of the injury he suffered in 2021.

The team held a “potential out” of Boone’s contract but has chosen to stick with him.

The status of these players could be a toss-up, though, with both of them likely not being a major contributors and also the fact that they held the same responsibilities with the previous coaching regime.

I do think that Boone will end up beating out Crockett for the RB3 job even if he doesn’t actually end up making a big impact on the team in 2022. It’ll be Crockett’s job to change my mind.
