3 veteran free agents the Denver Broncos should sign right now

Denver Broncos free agent no. 3: Anthony Barr, LB

If I could implore George Paton to sign a single free agent before training camp, it would be linebacker Anthony Barr.

Do we really feel good about this group going into the 2022 season?

  • Josey Jewell
  • Jonas Griffith
  • Alex Singleton
  • Justin Strnad
  • Barrington Wade

I am not certain the Broncos have four NFL roster-caliber linebackers on the team at this present moment.

Justin Strnad has plenty to prove heading into his third NFL season. Barrington Wade has the ability to contribute heavily on special teams, but what happens if the Broncos have as many injuries at this position as they did in 2021?

Their depth right now is not where it needs to be.

Anthony Barr has significant ties to the team with George Paton running the show. Paton was obviously in the front office when the Minnesota Vikings made Barr a first-round pick a handful of years ago.

He was also in the front office when they re-signed Barr to a big-money contract.

Barr would be the perfect contingency plan if Jonas Griffith is the top option to start at the linebacker position next to Josey Jewell.

He can play a similar role, he has a similar size and athletic profile, and he’s another veteran option that can play all three downs.

The Broncos should have made this signing weeks ago.
