Broncos’ 2022 projected tackles leader: Jonas Griffith

Here’s where I go with a bit of a wild card.

The Broncos are going to need someone to step up at the inside linebacker spot. Josey Jewell would be a solid answer to lead the team in tackles and free-agent signing Alex Singleton, who led the Philadelphia Eagles in tackles in each of the last two seasons, would be as well.

But one name beginning to generate a lot of buzz is that of Jonas Griffith.

Just before the start of last season, the Broncos made a very under-the-radar trade to acquire Griffith from the San Francisco 49ers. He worked his way through the Broncos’ system well and seems to have endeared himself to the organization.

He should have a chance to be one of the team’s starting linebackers this season and if he does, he’ll get his chance to make some plays as a 25-year-old starting to settle into a role.

Justin Simmons always has a high number of tackles as does fellow starting safety Kareem Jackson. But the Broncos have been waiting years for someone at an inside linebacker spot to make some noise and Griffith just seems like a great choice here.
