Reason no. 3 the Denver Broncos could finish last place: The AFC West is too good

Let’s just get this reason out of the way.

It’s one thing to say the Denver Broncos will finish last place in the AFC West because Russell Wilson is not currently a top-5 NFL quarterback.

Although he was a legitimate MVP candidate just two seasons ago…

It’s another thing completely to say, look, it’s going to be brutal to win the AFC West. There are too many good teams.

And that could be the case.

The AFC West’s “last place” team, in theory, could win 10 games and make the playoffs. That’s not out of the realm of possibility. Heck, the last-place team in the AFC West could even win 11 games.

Things could get really crazy.

Winning the AFC West is going to require some team to run an impressive gauntlet in 2022. There’s really no shame in finishing second or maybe even third place in this division.

Of course, last place is not preferable, but do you see a team that should definitely have a losing record in this division in 2022?

I don’t.

The Broncos are the “reigning” last-place team in the division. It’s possible that all of the other teams simply win more games in this arm’s race.
