Broncos who could be traded before the start of the 2022 season: Malik Reed

This idea seems to be gaining a lot of traction lately and we have discussed its possibility as well. On the surface, it makes plenty of sense.

The Broncos have loaded up on pass-rushers with the big free-agent signing of Randy Gregory combined with using their first draft pick this past April on Nik Bonitto. In addition, a healthy Bradley Chubb will be back and the Broncos are moving Baron Browning to the outside.

Throw in Jonathon Cooper and the offseason additions of Aaron Patrick and undrafted free agent Christopher Allen and there just doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of room for Reed.

But trading him shouldn’t be a slam dunk either.

Reed has stepped up and performed quite well for the team over the years filling in for Chubb and Von Miller when they have been hurt.

Reed has 15 sacks in his first three seasons in the league and he has done all of that after being an undrafted free agent himself. There is also the chance that the team likely wouldn’t get a whole lot in return, making this a little more difficult of a decision.

It sure sounds a lot like Shaq Barrett a few years ago who left as a free agent when the Broncos didn’t seem to have a spot for him. He has sure made the most of his post-Broncos career and it would be tough to see the same thing happen if Reed is moved.
