Broncos who could be traded before the start of the 2022 season: Sam Martin

While many may see this one as entirely unlikely, Sam Martin is going to have some competition in camp this summer and it should be legitimate competition, not just a “camp leg”.

Corliss Waitman is a player the Broncos jumped on through the waiver process after he was let go by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Waitman punted in two games for the Steelers last season and averaged 52.1 yards per kick.

He is also a left-footed punter and if you ever paid attention to how Bill Belichick ran things in New England, he often has a left-footed punter on his team due to the fact that the ball comes off the kicker’s foot in a way that makes it a little more difficult to field and do anything with.

There is also the fact that Martin would cost considerably more than Waitman and you have all the makings of a trade possibility.

The Broncos would save $2.25 million against the salary cap by trading Martin. Waitman is scheduled to earn $825,000 this season.
