The Denver Broncos have had some great trash talkers throughout the team’s history, but one player stands out among all the rest.
Every NFL team has players throughout their history that don’t just let their game do the talking.
The Denver Broncos happen to have some of the best trash talkers in league history and players that certainly backed up their trash talk with the way they played.
When thinking through the team’s history, players like Bill Romanowski certainly come to mind. Romanowski was villainized as an NFL player and in many cases, rightfully so.
He played (and talked) a specific enough brand of football that was good enough to get noticed by Hollywood.
There are other players throughout Denver Broncos history like Aqib Talib, whose trash talk game was absolutely out of this world.
As a matter of fact, it was incredibly difficult to keep him off of this list.
Talib’s jawing on the field extended to physical contact, which got him into a little bit of trouble at times, but it was also just legendary trash talk.
From snatching chains to poking eyes, there were lines Talib was willing to cross that give him a clear edge over other players when it comes to trash-talking and even using physical contact to get inside an opponent’s head.
But when it comes to the greatest — the greatest — trash talker in Denver Broncos history, you have to look at longevity.
You have to look at legacy.
Denver Broncos Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe is not just in the Hall of Fame for his ability to stretch the field and make plays as a receiver. He’s in the Hall of Fame of NFL trash talkers.
Okay, that’s not an official group, but if it was, he would be immortalized there as well.
One of the greatest moments Sharpe has had as a trash talker is when he picked up a red phone on the sideline during a game and placed a fake call to the President, calling on the “National Guard” and as many men as he could spare because the Broncos were “killing the Patriots.”
Sharpe is such a good trash talker, in fact, that he’s made an entire post-NFL career out of it.
Currently, he’s one of the hosts of the show Skip and Shannon: Undisputed on FS1 where he sits and argues with Skip Bayless all day.
Where do Denver Broncos tight ends rank among AFC West?
The Denver Broncos have an exciting young duo of tight ends in Greg Dulcich and Albert Okwuegbunam, but where do they rank among the AFC West?
As great as some of the moments were with players like Talib, Romanowski, even guys like Von Miller who labeled Travis Kelce “Fake Gronk”, the trash-talking history of Shannon Sharpe — then and now — is unrivaled.
