The Denver Broncos play in one of the most talented divisions in the entire NFL. The AFC West is loaded, but which players are overrated?

The AFC West is loaded going into the 2022 season and the Denver Broncos have finally joined the “exciting team” category with the addition of Russell Wilson at the QB position.

As many talented players as there are in the AFC West, there are also plenty of overrated players who are riding the coattails of big seasons from years ago or big potential that’s yet to be realized.

Which players are the most overrated among the Denver Broncos’ rivals?

Let’s take a look at each AFC West team’s candidate.

Overrated Denver Broncos rival no. 1: Khalil Mack, EDGE, Los Angeles Chargers

I hate to even say this because Khalil Mack deserves so much praise and respect for an outstanding NFL career up to this point.

Once a dominant force off the edge for the Oakland Raiders and Chicago Bears, Mack’s productivity is not the same in recent years as it was during his dominant stretches from 2014-18.

Last season for the Bears, Mack played in just seven games, so it’s impossible to really say what version of him the Los Angeles Chargers are going to get in 2022.

His last two seasons for the Bears (23 games)

  • 15.0 sacks
  • 3 forced fumbles
  • 20 QB hits
  • 17 TFL

Those are still the numbers of a highly effective edge player but Khalil Mack has also exceeded those numbers in individual seasons on his own.

It’s certainly an exciting move for the Chargers to be able to get a star player like this to play opposite Joey Bosa, but are they getting the Khalil Mack of old?

That’s kind of how the media and most people have been treating the move.

Mack will still be good for the Chargers, but is he going to be defensive MVP Khalil Mack?

I think people need to pump the brakes a bit there.

For now, he’s my most overrated player on the Chargers in the “what have you done for me lately” NFL.
