Players who should retire with Broncos: Chris Harris

Chris Harris likely wants to continue his playing career, even at 33 years old. That could even happen with a reunion in Denver. But it’s not likely.

After leaving the Broncos to go to the Los Angeles Chargers following the 2019 season, Harris just didn’t seem like the same player. He wasn’t even as good in 2019 as Broncos fans were used to seeing.

But Harris will always be a legend in Denver for the great seasons that he did have, going from an undrafted free agent to a four-time Pro Bowl selection. There were times when he was among the best defensive backs in the entire league and he was a key proponent of the famed ‘No Fly Zone’ that led the Broncos to a Super Bowl win in 2015.

Harris may very well have played his final NFL game as teams value youth and athleticism in the secondary perhaps more than ever. There is no doubt that Harris has lost a step.

The Broncos should bring him back, but only on a one-day deal that allows him to finish his career where it started.
