Denver Broncos free agent CB no. 1: Joe Haden

Joe Haden just turned 33 years old this year and has a resumé that includes three Pro Bowl selections.

Haden has picked off 29 passes in his NFL career and has a whopping 155 passes broken up.

The Pittsburgh Steelers could still try to bring Haden back. There’s a chance he could reunite with his old team, the Cleveland Browns.

But perhaps at some point, the Denver Broncos will come calling.

Crazy enough, Haden was actually the cornerback that picked off a Jeff Driskel pass intended for Courtland Sutton early in the 2020 season.

The ball was tipped off of Sutton’s hands into the waiting arms of Haden, and as Haden tried to run the other way to score, Sutton caught him from behind and suffered a season-ending knee injury on the play.

The last contract Haden signed was a three-year deal worth $27 million but he’s not going to get anything close to that at this point with a new team, not at the age of 33.

At his age, Haden’s got to be in the ring chasing mode.

The Denver Broncos, thankfully, are in the position to be bringing in players who might be chasing rings at this point.

Haden could play a versatile role in the defense, not just as an emergency backup cornerback. The Broncos could get him some snaps working from the slot, attacking the line of scrimmage.
