The Denver Broncos could add some more depth to the defensive backfield by adding any one of these available veteran free agents.
The Denver Broncos have pretty enviable depth at a variety of positions on their roster at the conclusion of OTAs.
While the team has plenty of players at the cornerback position, there aren’t exactly very many “proven” guys at that position.
Pat Surtain II and Ronald Darby make up a tremendous duo on the outside.
Ka’Waun Williams is a seasoned veteran in the slot.
Michael Ojemudia started most of his rookie season, but he’s the most “experienced” guy on the team outside of the top three other than Bless Austin, who made the team as a tryout player earlier this offseason.
According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Denver Broncos could be interested in still adding another veteran cornerback for some depth, but who?
Here are three options to consider.
Denver Broncos FA CB option no. 3: Kevin King
One of the players the Denver Broncos could definitely consider in the coming weeks is former Green Bay Packers second-round pick Kevin King.
At this point, King might just be a worthwhile flyer for a variety of reasons.
He is still just 27 years old.
Not only was King once a former second-round pick, but he was the 33rd overall pick — the top pick of round two — back in the 2017 NFL Draft.
At 6-foot-3, King has a unique body type for an outside cornerback which is exactly where the Denver Broncos could use some depth at this point.
He really flashed back in the 2019 season with five interceptions and 15 passes broken up, but he’s certainly had his share of struggles which is why he’s still available at the end of June.
There are plenty of issues you can find with any possible acquisition, but a guy like Kevin King could be interesting to reunite with Denver Broncos defensive backs coach Christian Parker, who was King’s position coach once upon a time in Green Bay.
