Denver Broncos roster bubble player no.1: Malik Reed, Edge

Perhaps it is a surprise to some to see Malik Reed make this list. After all, he has been a true Johnny-on-the-spot type player for the last several years. Reed has filled in due to injuries of both Bradley Chubb and Von Miller and those were some big shoes to try and fill.

I list Reed here mainly due to the crowded Edge room that presents itself to the Denver Broncos.

Randy Gregory and Bradley Chubb lead the charge and will presumably be the starters and the Broncos drafted highly coveted Nik Bonitto in the second round of this year’s draft.

After those three we have 2021 seventh-round standout Jonathan Cooper who made a number of splash plays last season and is primed to be in a rotational role.

More so, and perhaps the main reason for Reed making the bubble, is the positional move of Baron Browning from ILB to the Edge position.

That is five more explosive edge rushers the Broncos possess in front of Reed and could likely be the reason why he could leave the Broncos.

Finally, the Broncos only carried five OLBs on the final 53 last year, and I believe the first five edge rushers in front of Reed are simply better players with higher upside.
