Denver Broncos roster bubble player no. 3: Mike Purcell, Defensive line

Mike Purcell had a strong showing when he got the call into Vic Fangio’s defense a few years ago. Purcell looked about as strong as any lineman on the team and helped fortify the Broncos’ run defense.

Purcell was then given a contract extension, which was followed by an injury that sidelined him for the rest of that year.

Since then, Purcell has not looked like the same player, and with the addition of DJ Jones, and with McTelvin Agim and DeShawn Williams knocking at the door, Purcell has found himself landing on the roster bubble for this season.

Add in the Broncos drafting Eyioma Uwazurike in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft, and all of a sudden the defensive line room looks a little crowded.

I’m sure Broncos fans would love nothing more than to see Purcell get back to form. He is an easy player to root for.

The question is, can he make a strong enough push to show he is still the player he once was?
