Revisiting the Denver Broncos trade package for Russell Wilson
Denver Broncos haul in blockbuster trade
QB Russell Wilson
DL Eyioma Uwazurike
Once again, you cannot put a price tag on finally getting out of quarterback purgatory.
The Denver Broncos have been in a horrendous cycle since the retirement of Peyton Manning of short-term answers and failed potential long-term answers at the position.
To have Russell Wilson around for the last three months has reminded Denver Broncos fans what it is like to be a legitimate, contending team with championship expectations.
Wilson is already making everyone on this team better and it’s going to be incredible to see what kind of results we’ll get on the field with all of these talented skill players finally having a star quarterback getting them the ball.
Although the Broncos don’t have any picks coming in the 2023 NFL Draft from this trade, they did manage to get one pick back from the Seahawks — a fourth-rounder in the 2022 NFL Draft.
That pick was used on Iowa State defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike, one of the best defensive linemen in the Big 12 the last couple of years and a player that could come in for the Broncos and start sooner rather than later.
The fact that the Broncos got any picks back from the Seahawks is remarkable, much less a pick near the start of round four where the Broncos could actually get a potential impact rotational player.
It’s way too early to say who won this trade definitively, but the Denver Broncos definitely won this trade.
