Five things we learned about the Denver Broncos this offseason

4. The team doesn’t seem to be worrying about the shaky ILB room

Some fans, including myself, have been calling on the team to sign another inside linebacker, as the current room, which features Josey Jewell, Jonas Griffith, and Alex Singleton, doesn’t appear to be good enough.

However, not only have they not added a veteran ILB to the mix, but they let both Kenny Young and Micah Kiser sign with different teams, and have not re-signed Alexander Johnson.

It’s baffling to me, but the coaching staff appears to be very high on Jonas Griffith, who was a special teams player for the San Francisco 49ers before being traded to Denver late in the 2021 offseason.

Griffith is a crazy athlete who is 6’4″ and 250 pounds.  He appeared in a handful of games for Denver in 2021 and appeared to hold his own.

Now, the team is riding that wave into this offseason, where he’s performed well thus far.

He hasn’t played a lot of football which is a concern, but the coaching staff and front office don’t appear to be worried about this unit.

I would not be surprised if the team added a veteran ILB for depth purposes, but it doesn’t look like they plan on adding someone who would compete for the starting position.
