4 Denver Broncos players who could get leapfrogged by rookies
3. Malik Reed could get leapfrogged by Nik Bonitto on Denver Broncos depth chart
The Denver Broncos outside linebacker/edge rusher group is going to be very interesting to watch in the 2022 offseason.
I think at this point, nobody really knows what to expect.
Bradley Chubb has had a healthy offseason, his first of that variety in a long while.
Randy Gregory had a shoulder procedure but is expected to be back on the field sooner rather than later.
The Broncos moved Baron Browning to the edge this offseason and it sounds like that transition has been seamless for him.
Although he is dealing with an injured finger right now, Jonathon Cooper is also expected to be a factor in the rotation.
Then you have Malik Reed and Nik Bonitto.
Reed is expected to be the one in the starting lineup if either Chubb or Gregory is out.
Bonitto is a rookie out of Oklahoma who proved with the Sooners that more than just being a speedy pass rusher, he’s a strong edge defender who can do a little bit of everything.
Ultimately, I see Bonitto proving very quickly that he is capable of making an impact early and often.
His speed off the edge is tough for offensive linemen to deal with, but Bonitto is a weapon that can make an impact in so many other ways, too.
I think he could leapfrog over Malik Reed by the time the regular season rolls around.
