The Denver Broncos have a solid roster heading into the important summer months, but the team should find a way to keep these four players.

Teams around the league currently have 90 players on their roster and that will be the amount each team takes into training camp. For the Denver Broncos, getting down to the league-mandated 53 players on the roster is not going to be easy.

But in today’s NFL, many more than 53 players are going to be necessary to get through a season. That is one of the reasons that teams will be allowed to keep up to 16 players on their practice squad this year.

In recent years with COVID protocols, teams have had a hard time even having 53 players available some weeks.

The Broncos have an impressive roster and there are several positions where multiple players are locked into a roster spot. But for a few fringe guys who will sit on the roster bubble all summer, a chance to contribute at some point in the season should not be ruled out.

The Broncos should continue their working relationship with each of these four players.

Marquiss Spencer was drafted in the seventh round of the 2021 draft and did enough last summer to be awarded with a spot on the team’s practice squad. He eventually made an appearance in a game late in the season and the Broncos liked him enough to sign him to a future contract.

The Broncos selected two defensive linemen in the draft in Eyioma Uwazurike and Matt Henningsen. That will add to Spencer’s hurdles in making the roster, which will take some work at this point. He should be seen as a player firmly on the roster bubble.

DeShawn Williams and Jonathan Harris will be right there with him but he could beat out Henningsen and Harris and get on the roster that way.

If not, the Broncos should save a spot for him on the practice squad again.
