Three biggest long-term needs for the Denver Broncos

3. EDGE rusher

I was deciding whether to put the defensive line on here instead of edge rusher, but I gave the not to the rushers.

Not only do the Denver Broncos have a ton of uncertainty at this position for the long-term, but there are valid concerns for this year as well.

Randy Gregory was the big free agent addition, but he turns 30 this year and has a very decorated off-field history which has kept him out of a ton of games.

Bradley Chubb has battled injuries and inconsistencies and hasn’t shown the potential to be a long-term fixture, and with Baron Browning moving to edge rusher in year two, his viability at this position is not known.

The team did draft Nik Bonitto, but obviously, we will not know for a few years if he is someone who can develop into a competent pass rusher for Denver.

On paper, Denver’s pass-rushing unit is one of the deepest in football.  They’ve got the potential to have Pro Bowl starters and high-end depth.

However, the uncertainties regarding overall inconsistent play and injury concerns make this a position to watch for the future.

I would not be surprised if George Paton invested more resources into this unit next offseason.
