Denver Broncos weakness no. 2: Proven depth on the defensive line

One position group that is going to be fascinating to watch over the course of the 2022 offseason is the defensive line.

Dre’Mont Jones looks like a star at the position. The Broncos spent some big-time cash to bring in DJ Jones in free agency from the San Francisco 49ers.

Mike Purcell is healthy again.

The starters on the defensive front look solid but the depth remains relatively unknown at this point.

The Broncos brought back veteran DeShawn Williams this offseason at a very team-friendly rate, so he could end up being valuable depth once again in 2022.

They also drafted Eyioma Uwazurike in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Iowa State, and he has the kind of size and talent to project as a future starter.

Matt Henningsen has been dealing with a minor calf injury throughout OTAs, but he’s another athletic interior defensive lineman who can create as a pass rusher and get penetration.

Former third-round pick McTelvin Agim is largely unproven heading into his third NFL season.

Where is Marquiss Spencer at with his development?

There’s plenty of potential here, but it’s unproven and the Broncos have to find a way to develop these younger players rather quickly.

What happens if someone like Dre’Mont Jones or DJ Jones goes down with an injury? It could get dicey in a hurry.
