Denver Broncos highest-paid QB no. 2: Russell Wilson

Career earnings: $181,362,520 (11th-most all-time)

Russell Wilson has not yet played a single down for the Denver Broncos.

I’m not even sure he’s had a check from the Broncos clear yet as of the time of this post being written.

With that being said, I can’t wait until Wilson’s career earnings increase into the $200 million and maybe even $300 million range as a result of him signing new contracts with the Denver Broncos.

I think everyone in Broncos Country shares that sentiment as well.

Although Wilson has yet to actually play for the Denver Broncos in a real game, he’s on the list as one of the highest-earning quarterbacks in league history and he will don the orange and blue in a game soon enough.

Wilson was a third-round pick out of Wisconsin back in the 2012 NFL Draft, a draft in which the Broncos used a second-round selection on Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler.

For the longest time, John Elway stayed away from bringing in quarterbacks that were anywhere near six feet tall.

Whether John Elway made the wrong call at the time is irrelevant now. The Broncos had Peyton Manning and the situation in Seattle allowed Wilson to flourish and become what he is today — one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Now, he gives the Denver Broncos a legitimate MVP candidate at the game’s most important position and renewed hope for the franchise to get a fourth Lombardi trophy.
