The Greg Dulcich hype train for the Denver Broncos is now a runaway freight train at OTAs as the rookie continues to get reps with the 1st-team offense.

When the Denver Broncos made the trade to acquire quarterback Russell Wilson, I think the majority of the fan base was disappointed that part of the price to be paid was tight end Noah Fant.

It would have been great to see the entire core of offensive skill players with Wilson under center, but the Seattle Seahawks asked for Fant, and there’s no way that would have ever been a deal breaker.

After the trade went down, the Broncos and general manager George Paton were very patient in addressing that position as an area of need.

They signed veteran blocking tight end Eric Tomlinson in free agency. They re-signed versatile tight end/fullback Andrew Beck.

The team even hyped up Albert Okwuegbunam before the 2022 NFL Draft.

Then came UCLA rookie Greg Dulcich, the man who now wears the historic no. 80 jersey and the 80th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Dulcich initially drew rave reviews from the media for his Troy Polamalu-like head of hair, but the hype train has only picked up steam ever since.

In fact, that hype train is now a full-on freight train as the Denver Broncos progress through OTAs.

Greg Dulcich proving to be a quick study of Denver Broncos offense

Dulcich has been working in — a lot — with the top offense at Denver Broncos OTAs.

Head coach Nathaniel Hackett’s philosophy on playing rookies early on?

He told the media simply, “We’re always gonna play the best guys.”

It’s worth noting that Russell Wilson recently name-dropped Dulcich saying that he “gets the game” and Hackett called out a “Tugalicious” that Dulcich scored in a practice session last week.

The chemistry is building. the freight train is rolling.

The Denver Broncos may have a new TE1 and it may not be Albert Okwuegbunam, despite what has been widely reported.

It’s important not to get too far ahead of ourselves here, though. It’s still early in OTAs, pads haven’t come on yet, and guys haven’t had the chance to really show what they can do in a real game setting.

With that being said, the early reviews on Dulcich are overwhelmingly positive. We know he has strong hands, he’s great after the catch, he is smart, and he works extremely hard.

He’s earning the trust of his head coach and QB1.

The Broncos really liked him in this pre-draft process and now it’s looking like he will play a massive role in his rookie season with the team.
