Denver Broncos player on the bubble no. 2: Seth Williams, WR

It’s painful to say because I personally have been high on Seth Williams for a long while.

Watching Auburn defenders in preparation for the NFL Draft a few years ago, I couldn’t help but notice no. 18 on Auburn really standing out.

Unfortunately, he had horrendous quarterback play at Auburn and his own consistency suffered as a result.

Williams is well-built, he’s got a tremendous catch radius, and his combination of size and speed are exactly what you look for in an NFL receiver.

But whose place is he taking on the roster?

Absent a major role on special teams, Williams is going to need to be making play after play all throughout OTAs, training camp, and the preseason.

The Broncos already have a solidified top four at the position with Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick, Jerry Jeudy, and KJ Hamler.

Beyond those guys, Kendall Hinton returns this year and the Broncos added return specialist Montrell Washington in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Will the Broncos have to keep seven receivers in order for Williams to stick around? They certainly protected him on the practice squad last year before ultimately calling him up to the “big leagues”.

Unless Williams just flat-out looks bad, letting him go would be a tough sunk cost.
