Three Denver Broncos likely to get paid next

2. Dre’Mont Jones, DL

Dre’Mont Jones is extremely underrated and should sign an extension in Denver very soon.

He has 15.5 sacks in his three seasons along the defensive interior, notching 6.5 sacks in 13 games in 2020.

Jones has 28 total QB hits during his career and is set to enter his age-25 season. I do think it’s possible that he gets an extension this offseason, but I think it’s more likely the Denver Broncos extend him during the season or after the 2022 season.

They have to be careful, though, because he obviously does not have a fifth-year option, so this is the last year of his rookie deal.

Jones deserves every penny of what the Broncos or some other team will pay him.

He’s a pass-rushing force along the interior, and now he’s getting the opportunity to play alongside D.J. Jones, Randy Gregory, and a healthy Bradley Chubb.

So, one of the reasons I think he could end up not getting an extension from Denver is because Bradley Chubb could also get an extension if he has a strong 2022 season, and the EDGE position is more valuable than the defensive line.

Plus, the team is already paying D.J. Jones and Randy Gregory, so that would be a ton of money allocated to the front seven. You then have to consider the contracts of Justin Simmons, Ronald Darby, and the pending contract for Patrick Surtain II.

While I do think Jones does stay in Denver for the long-term, there is a chance he is not offered a deal, but, as of now, he is one of the more likely players on the roster to get a new deal.
