Broncos starter who could lose job to a rookie: Lloyd Cushenberry, Center

The Broncos will have a lot to figure out along the offensive line before the season opens. The only spot that is likely set is left tackle where Garett Bolles will remain the starter. One of the biggest questions will be who the team decides to go with at center.

And there will be more than one option.

For the past two seasons, Lloyd Cushenberry has been the starting center but his play has been less than what the team likely expected out of a third-round pick.

The Broncos could replace Cushenberry in the starting lineup this year and with the style of offense Nathaniel Hackett wants to run, that is not at all out of the realm of possibilities.

Graham Glasgow could take over at center but the team also has an interesting rookie in place in Luke Wattenberg, a player they chose in the fifth round out of Washington.

Wattenberg comes with a wealth of experience from the college level, having been a four-year starter for the Huskies. He is a player the coaching staff seems to already be high on as well.

It remains to be seen what happens at center for the Broncos this season but one way or another, I don’t see Cushenberry being the guy they go with.
