Denver Broncos surprise cut candidate on the OL: Lloyd Cushenberry III

Let me just start this one off quickly by saying this: I think it’s much more likely we’ll see a trade on the offensive line this offseason than a true surprise cut.

The Broncos have more guys right now on the offensive line than they’ll be able to take into the regular season roster.

That’s a great problem to have, but it also means we’re likely to see someone go that could disappoint fans.

Lloyd Cushenberry III is one guy out of a couple of candidates I could see the Denver Broncos moving on from in 2022.

Why?

First of all, the team is putting him in competition this offseason with veteran Graham Glasgow, who is not likely to return to his starting role at the right guard position.

The Broncos also traded up in round five to draft Washington’s Luke Wattenberg, who can play center, guard, or tackle.

One thing that’s really working against Cushenberry at this point? He’s pretty much a center only. Versatility is key and if you can’t play multiple positions in today’s NFL, you’ve either got to be elite at what you do or you’re probably not going to stick around for long.

If Cushenberry is on the Broncos’ final roster, it won’t be surprising, but things seem to be trending more towards him being cut or traded.
