RB Terrell Davis – 6th Round, 1995

Two straight Hall of Famers to open this list, working our way from the bottom up. Terrell Davis is one of the greatest Broncos ever, much less the top guy taken in the 6th round.

Davis had a solid career at Georgia after transferring from Long Beach State, but played behind Garrison Hearst and dealt with some injuries during his time in college.

He ended up falling to the 6th round of the 1995 draft and was buried on Denver’s depth chart in the preseason. Denver was playing an exhibition game in Tokyo, and TD was so discouraged that he was actually looking for flights home ahead of the matchup.

Thank the football gods he couldn’t book a seat. In that game, he caught Mike Shanahan’s attention with a huge hit on special teams. Then, he got more and more reps throughout the preseason and won the starting job by the opener.

Next thing we knew, he was on the All-Rookie Team. The rest is history.

TD brought such a unique blend of strength, vision, and burst to the zone-running scheme, and he was exactly what Shanahan had been looking for to pair with John Elway.

He was the Super Bowl MVP in 1997, and his 1998 MVP campaign may be one of the greatest single-season performances by a running back ever. He finished with 2008 rushing yards, 23 total TD’s and capped it off with another Super Bowl win.

Terrell Davis finished his time in Denver with a massive collection of accolades. MVP. 2x Offensive Player of the Year. 3x All-Pro. 3x Pro Bowler. Super Bowl MVP. Ring of Famer. Hall of Famer. He did it all. Glad it all worked out in Tokyo.
