Broncos potential trap game No.1: Week 2 vs. Houston Texans

The Houston Texans look like possibly the worst team in the AFC on paper so many see the Broncos getting an easy victory in the second game of the season.

This will be Russell Wilson’s regular-season home debut as the team’s quarterback and that alone should bring a sellout crowd to Empower Field, making for an electric atmosphere against the lowly Texans.

But because this is a game early in the season, the Texans will still have a full season in front of them, potentially a clean bill of health across the roster and plenty to play for. They won’t roll over for the Broncos.

Lovie Smith will have this team ready to play and the Broncos can not afford to come out slow and lethargic against a hungry young team.

The following Sunday, the Broncos will have a big game on primetime television against the San Francisco 49ers, so it will be important to not be looking ahead to that one.

The Texans look like an automatic win on the schedule but there is no such thing as those in the NFL.

The Texans had upset wins over the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Chargers last season and rookie quarterback Davis Mills had four 300-yard passing games.
