Denver Broncos Defensive Line (5, 43/53):

Dre’Mont Jones, D.J. Jones, DeShawn Williams, Matt Henningsen, Eyioma Uwazurike

The presence of rookies Matt Henningsen and Eyioma Uwazurike via the 2022 NFL Draft, as well as the incoming D.J. Jones, could spell bad news for nose tackle Mike Purcell.

Purcell suffered a season-ending foot injury in October and played in just six games in 2020. I think that it makes sense for the team to move on from Purcell.

As Sayre Bedinger stated in his own roster prediction, this group offers positional versatility, which is a big blow for Purcell.

I’m very curious to see if the breakout season most expected from Dre’Mont Jones in 2021 will happen a year later. He was supposed to be a superstar to many people. He was not bad by any means, he just didn’t live up to the expectations. Maybe those expectations were a tad high.

The Broncos signed D.J. Jones away from the San Francisco 49ers in free agency and he should help tremendously in the run game. This is a group that I am very excited to see play in 2022 and beyond.

In a division that has Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert, as well as Derek Carr, generating pressure will be crucial.
