How will the roster of the Denver Broncos look during week 1 of the 2022 season? Here’s a prediction.
The Denver Broncos may have come away with yet another spectacular draft class in 2022 and we could see quite a few of those players contributing to the team as rookies.
The best thing about this roster is that the quarterback position is finally set for the foreseeable future with Russell Wilson at the helm. At running back, the team re-signed Melvin Gordon but he’ll likely take a backseat to second-year pro Javonte Williams.
One of the better things about this year’s offense is the fact that the team signed Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick to contract extensions.

Denver Broncos Offense/Special Teams: 26
Quarterback (3, 3/53): Russell Wilson, Josh Johnson, Brett Rypien
The quarterback room for the Denver Broncos is significantly different than past years. We actually have the quarterback of the future in Russell Wilson. The Broncos signed journeyman backup Josh Johnson this offseason and he figures to be the second-string quarterback.
Unless the team figures there could be a better third-string quarterback, Brett Rypien returns in that role. Ultimately, not much to see here in terms of competition. The position is set.
The team hopes that Wilson—who missed a couple of games following finger surgery last season—will be able to make it through the 17-game schedule and make a deep playoff run. The future is bright at the quarterback position.
Special Teams (3, 6/53)
K: Brandon McManus
P: Sam Martin
LS: Jacob Bobenmoyer
Brandon McManus was not ever going to be fighting for his spot on the team. He has been very reliable for the Broncos since arriving in 2014, converting 81.9 percent of his field goal attempts during that time and averaging 62.5 yards per kickoff.
Sam Martin has been a solid punter for the Broncos over the last two years, which is odd because nobody really talks about him. During the draft, some wanted Matt Araiza to replace him. It turns out that Araiza was not the top punter on some teams’ board.
Jacob Bobenmoyer is, well, the long snapper. Nothing wrong with him in that position. No reason to replace him.
