Projecting Denver Broncos starting offense in 2022

Running back – Javonte Williams

Ok, so, a few things here.  I was able to find out that the Green Bay Packers, in their last three seasons, predominantly ran their offense in 11 personnel.  Eleven personnel simply means the team has one tight end and one running back on the field.

This would then mean, besides the five offensive linemen obviously, the team also has three receivers on the field.

Nathaniel Hackett was the Packers’ offensive coordinator the past three seasons where the team mostly lined up in 11 personnel.

Since they’ll surely open up games in this, we can expect to see one running back on the field quite a bit, which is also what Pat Shurmur did a bit.

It’s clear that Javonte Williams should be RB2.  Denver re-signed Melvin Gordon, which I am not a fan of, but he is still a solid back who has been rather consistent his entire career.

Expect Williams to be the bellcow, and Gordon to perhaps come in closer to goal line situations.

My fear is that Melvin Gordon is still good enough to take carries away from Williams.  I personally want Williams to see the field as much as possible since I think he’s set to breakout in 2022.

Sure, it’s nice to have two RB1’s on the team, but in terms of usage, I hope Williams gets the most of the carries.
