Jamar Johnson, Safety

Last season, the Broncos drafted two safeties just 12 picks apart. One of those players, Caden Sterns, appears to have a bright future with the team. The other, Jamar Johnson, was hardly used.

Johnson appeared in just three games for the team and was used exclusively on special teams. He didn’t line up for even one defensive snap.

On top of that, the Broncos signed J.R. Reed as a free agent while also drafting Delarrin Turner-Yell in this year’s fifth round. P.J. Locke is also still on the team.

George Paton likely wants to keep as many young safeties around as he can to have possible replacements for Kareem Jackson, who is playing on another one-year deal. However, you can only place 53 players on a roster and one of these young safeties is likely looking at the practice squad.

That could easily be Johnson, who clearly has something to show after having an extremely quiet rookie season.
