In looking at the Denver Broncos roster after the 2022 NFL Draft, there are still a few areas for improvement, that perhaps the team could fix via trade.

With the NFL Draft now behind us, teams will look to put the finishing touches on their roster with late free agent additions and perhaps a trade or two.  The next step for the Denver Broncos and every other team will be to get all of their rookie draft picks under contract for 2022 and beyond.

Beyond that, more offseason activities are in the near future.

As for the roster standpoint, teams will still look through every avenue possible to try and put the very last finishing touches on their team.

We’ll see more of this as we get farther into the offseason, especially when injuries happen.

However, as it stands now for the Denver Broncos, there are a few moves they could make reasonably quickly to put one last legitimate stamp on their roster before the 2022 season begins.

There are three trade scenarios the team should engage in.  In two of them, they are acquiring a player that will immediately fill a need for the team.

In the last scenario, the trade includes the Broncos shipping one or more of their players out for something in return.

So, let’s take a look at three trades the Denver Broncos should make after the draft.

Three trades Denver Broncos should make post-draft

1. Trade for Commanders’ Daron Payne

Daron Payne is a very talented defensive lineman on the Washington Commanders.  He’s entering his fifth season and will turn just 25 in 2022.

Payne has played along the defensive line at multiple positions, which is a nice bonus.

In 2021, he racked up 4.5 sacks, 61 total tackles, and 15 QB hits.

Apparently, the Commanders are not prepared to offer him a contract extension.

With the Commanders already having money invested in Jonathan Allen, along with future extensions for Chase Young and Montez Sweat, it makes sense that Payne is the odd man out.

It has nothing to do with his play, in fact, if he wasn’t nearly as good, they’d have probably extended him at a lower number than what he’s going to get.

The Commanders need to trade him if they don’t offer an extension, and the Denver Broncos should pick up the phone.

We know that Dre’Mont Jones and D.J. Jones are on the defensive line, but who is going to be the last person to step up?  Mike Purcell has been inconsistent, and McTelvin Agim hasn’t shown anything so far.

Payne gives the Broncos the best defensive line in the NFL to also couple with a nice edge room with Bradley Chubb, Randy Gregory, and Nik Bonitto.
