Denver Broncos 2022 re-draft

232nd overall – OL Thayer Munford instead of CB Faion Hicks

Faion Hicks was the Denver Broncos’ original selection here.  He’s a corner who is a bit undersized but has some desirable qualities and could make the roster as one of the last cornerbacks on the depth chart.

K’Waun Williams being on the team as the primary slot cornerback is also a nice player Hicks could learn from.

The new selection is Thayer Munford from Ohio State, a four-year starter who can play outside and in.

He’s also massive and long, standing at 6’6″ with 35 1/8 inch arms.

I’m not entirely sure why Munford fell this late.  He was projected as a fourth-round pick and someone who can develop into an average starter.

Drafting Munford simply gives Denver yet another piece along the offensive line that they could work with.  He’d also not have to start immediately since the team has five solid starters as it is.

He’s not the best as a run or pass blocker, but that’s what coaches are for, right?

Butch Barry, the team’s offensive line coach could take his time with Munford and perhaps could have vouched for him as a starter in year two or three.

So, the “new” Broncos draft that I probably would have liked better includes:

  • Chad Muma, LB
  • Bernhard Raimann, OL
  • Calvin Austin III, WR
  • Eyioma Uwazurike, DT
  • Tariq Woolen, CB
  • Damone Clark, LB
  • Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE
  • Matt Araiza, P
  • Thayer Munford Jr, OL

How does this look, Broncos Country?
