Hindsight is 20/20, as the saying goes. Now that the NFL Draft is over, let’s take a look at some players the Denver Broncos could have selected.

Now that the 2022 NFL Draft is over, we know where the top prospects are headed to begin their NFL careers.  The Denver Broncos did not have a ton of draft capital to begin with, but they did end up drafting a respectable haul.

For this article, though, I want to look at the players the Denver Broncos could have selected instead.  Some may see no point in me writing this, but I think Denver missed out on a few players that would have been a perfect fit for the team.

I don’t doubt George Paton.  He’s earned the respect of the fanbase and of the NFL at large.

He has, in a little over a year, completely transformed the trajectory of the entire franchise.

Now, as the team is set to be sold, the Denver Broncos’ on-field performance will surely leave nothing to worry about.

All of a sudden becoming a very attractive destination, the Denver Broncos are indeed officially back.

Part of the reason for them being back is a stellar 2021 NFL Draft from Paton and his army of scouts and other front-office employees.

Patrick Surtain II, Javonte Williams, among others is an incredibly talented foundation from which the team can take advantage of for years.

And I do sincerely hope that the 2022 draft class is similar in impact.

However, I would have drafted different players.

So, let’s do a 2022 NFL re-draft!

Denver Broncos 2022 re-draft

64th overall – Original pick, EDGE Nik Bonitto, New pick, LB Chad Muma

Nik Bonitto was the last pick of the second round.  For this new selection, we have to go look into the early third round for the player.

My new pick is Chad Muma, a talented linebacker out of Wyoming.

Muma could immediately fill the open spot next to Josey Jewell.  Seeing as Baron Browning is going to get some run off the edge, finding a viable inside linebacker next to Jewell should have been a priority.

Muma is 6’3″, 240 pounds, and put up a 4.63 40-yard dash, a 40-inch vertical, and a 129-inch broad jump.  He’s a freaky athlete for someone who is the size of an edge rusher.

He’s obviously not a super polished prospect –virtually no one is –, but Muma possesses a lot of very desirable qualities in an NFL linebacker.

He’s a mean player, he gets to the ball carrier and finishes the job.  He’s one of those old-school linebackers in a way.  He can still run and move across the field adequately, so he isn’t just a good athlete.

From Colorado himself, Muma would have been a perfect fit in Denver.
