Denver Broncos key takeaways after NFL Draft

3. The EDGE room was a HUGE need

Going into the 2022 offseason, the Denver Broncos had a huge need along the edge, and there were no other viable opinions here.

George Paton agreed and added some reinforcements to this group.

I thought that after the addition of Randy Gregory, the team would add someone else to that room in the middle or late rounds of the draft.

Not only was Gregory not the only addition, but Paton using a second-round pick on an edge rusher in Nik Bonitto who could start week one shows just how big of a need this was.

Couple that with the team announcing that Baron Browning would also get some work off the edge, and you get a massive improvement in this unit.

This could also be a giant wake-up call for Bradley Chubb, the former fifth overall pick who has struggled in his first four seasons.

No matter who ends up as the consistent contributors, the edge unit should be much improved from last year.

There are three new faces who will and could see a ton of playing time.

George Paton’s additions to this unit indicate that he didn’t think too much of it before the offseason began.
