Denver Broncos mistakes during NFL Draft

3. Not selecting a tackle, again

What is with the Denver Broncos and not drafting tackles?  The last tackle they drafted was Garett Bolles in 2017.

Another draft has come and gone without the team selecting a tackle.  So, it seems like the team will be in the same boat next year, looking for that long-term right tackle yet again.

Of course, Denver did have quite a few opportunities to select a tackle.   The team should be just fine with the tackles they currently have on their roster.

But that was the case last year, and the year before.

There comes a point where the team needs to stop signing one-year rentals to play the position and lockdown someone for the long-term, whether it’s a future free agent, a trade, or drafting and developing someone.

However they arrive at the solution is of no concern to me, but what does concern me is not drafting a tackle again.

With all the talk of the Denver Broncos needing a right tackle for the long-term, it was reasonable to think the team would have come away with one, even if they were a later draft pick.

I think this was perhaps the biggest mistake they made during the draft.

Obviously, it will be a few years before we can fairly grade this haul.
