The Denver Broncos continue to bolster the defense with two contributors bringing the team some toughness.

Eyioma Uwazurike, a former Iowa State Cyclone, has incredible height and is close to 320 pounds. Despite being a little over three bills, Uwazurike brings an exceptional amount of athleticism as a defensive tackle.

Even with DJ Jones in the mix, the Denver Broncos chose to upgrade the depth on the front seven. Uwazurike looks to be the replacement for Shelby Harris who also was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in the Russell Wilson deal. It will be very interesting to see how the defensive line depth chart shakes out.

Uwazurike was rather productive with the Iowa State Cyclones in his final season totaling 42 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and nine sacks. I am not one to overreact much, but that is ridiculous production from a defensive tackle.

More importantly, this is a sign the former Cyclone is scheme versatile to play defensive end in a 3-4 front. Uwazurike was a first-team All-Big 12 player in a conference dominated by offensive playmakers throughout. If there is one that stands out from Uwazurike it is his football acumen or knowledge of run fits making him an exceptional run defender.

Harris gave the Denver Broncos an incredible locker room presence and performance on the football field. He was a tremendous special teams player who showed in his career to be a field goal block specialist and a knack for knocking passes down at the line of scrimmage. Uwazurike brings the same type of energy for blocking field goals. In his Cyclone career, he had two.

If there is one thing this Denver team needed was depth all across the board for the defense. Denver is tasked with bringing back the same type of physical and suffocating defense that won them the Super Bowl against Carolina.

Enough about me. What are some of the experts saying about Uwazurike? Let’s take a look.

It is a little difficult to know where Uwazurike fills out the depth chart initially, but he will be a contributor starting day one. The true identifier is unknown where the snaps total will be but Denver has a well-rounded front defensively.
