Broncos select Abraham Lucas, OT, Washington State

This seems like the right spot to take an offensive tackle of the future and Abraham Lucas has been heavily connected to Denver throughout this process.

He started 42 games in college at Washington State and was a First-Team All-Pac 12 selection this past season. He is a strong pass blocker and while he may not be the team’s starting right tackle in 2022, he won’t need to be.

The Broncos have a three-headed rotation of Billy Turner, Calvin Anderson and Tom Compton set to compete for that spot and any of those players will be adequate for this coming season. But the Broncos do need a player they can put in that spot for the next several years to come and that makes Lucas an attractive option here.

He could come in and develop in the team’s system behind those three veterans, who have a combined 117 career starts between them.
