The Denver Broncos are going to find themselves getting a bargain on day two of the 2022 NFL Draft. Which players are falling into their laps?

The first round of the 2022 NFL Draft is in the books, and there are some outstanding prospects still available to the Denver Broncos on day two.

As a matter of fact, there are more players than I think anyone really anticipated falling out of the first round of this draft still on the board, and if the Broncos stick around at pick no. 64, they are going to get a tremendous young prospect.

As George Paton talked about leading up to the 2022 NFL Draft, the Broncos are under no illusion that they are going to get someone of the caliber of Patrick Surtain II at pick 64 but they could still get an impact player in round two.

Which players are still on the board that could have a significant impact? Which prospects could be falling right into the Denver Broncos’ laps?

Denver Broncos prospect no. 1: Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia

Let me just start this off by saying — I am not overly interested in the Broncos’ top pick being an off-ball linebacker.

The position’s importance is more nostalgia than anything else, and while it’s important to have good off-ball linebacker play, the Broncos have already invested in that.

They have Baron Browning who can float around between off-ball linebacker and EDGE. They have Josey Jewell back on a two-year deal. They have Jonas Griffith who emerged last year. They have Alex Singleton who has been a starter.

There’s also Justin Strnad who was essentially a rookie last season.

I’m not a fan of taking off-ball linebacker early but I do realize it’s a possibility. The possibility becomes much more palatable for a player like Nakobe Dean, who was constantly leaping off the tape last year for Georgia.

Every single time I put Georgia on TV last season, it was no. 17 who kept popping off the screen.

It didn’t matter if he was dropping into coverage, blitzing, coming off the edge as a traditional pass rusher, or playing the traditional off-ball position.

Dean makes plays.

He is one of a very short list of off-ball linebackers I would be thrilled about in round two.
