2022 Denver Broncos Mock Draft: Broncos select NDSU tackle Cordell Volson 115th overall.
What I like about Cordell Volson out of North Dakota State is how aggressive he is when putting his hands on defensive linemen. He has a strong punch that can stop linemen from their pursuit.
Volson has experience at both tackle and guard, so despite him being a potential mid-round selection, he could be intriguing for the Denver Broncos due to his versatility. He stands at 6-foot-6, 315 pounds, and is a hard man to move out of the way.
The Broncos could use some depth at right tackle and if Volson is drafted by the Broncos, he may end up being a long-term replacement for right guard Graham Glasgow.
Volson could have a career path to being a guard but I can see a team such as the Broncos utilizing him in several different spots.
Volson will need to be faster with his hands during pass protection, but that is something that can be taught and fixed with time and practice/game reps.
2022 Denver Broncos Mock Draft: Denver Broncos select Wisconsin tight end Jake Ferguson 116th overall.
Jake Ferguson out of Wisconsin could be a nice mid-round addition to the Denver Broncos. The Broncos traded Noah Fant to the Seattle Seahawks as part of the Russell Wilson deal and need another body at the position.
Albert Okwuegbunam tore his ACL during his rookie season in 2020 so despite him being atop the depth chart, the Broncos need some more help. They added Eric Tomlinson in free agency but he’s more of a blocking tight end. They do have Shaun Beyer but he has not recorded a single stat yet.
Ferguson scored 13 touchdowns through the air during his four years at Wisconsin.
Ferguson is a 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end that can easily find his way into space. Watching him, it seems like he is wide open more times than not and even when he is covered well, he can still use his big frame to over-match his opponent and make spectacular grabs.
Ferguson redshirted his freshman year at Wisconsin in 2017 and it turned out to be a solid decision as evidenced by his overall production: 142 receptions, 1,585 yards, and 12 touchdowns in four seasons.
If the Broncos drafted Ferguson, they would have yet another tight end that can help in the passing game.
Russell Wilson threw to the Seattle Seahawks tight ends for 75 completions, 742 yards, and five touchdowns. In comparison, the Packers (with Nathaniel Hackett), completed 65 passes for 663 yards and four touchdowns.
