2022 NFL Draft: Denver Broncos select BYU running back Tyler Allgeier 96th overall.

It will be interesting to see at what point the Broncos select a running back in the 2022 NFL Draft, but in this case, I gave them one with the 96th overall pick.

Tyler Allgeier out of BYU had over 1,100 yards on the ground and 13 touchdowns on 150 carries for BYU in 2020.

Allgeier stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 220 pounds. That’s relatively big for an NFL running back but that’s not a bad thing. I’d much rather have a big running back than a smaller running back that might wear out faster in the NFL.

Per his scouting report, Allgeier will need to improve his vision when trying to hit holes. He may not be a starting running back but he could fit in nicely in a spot role alongside Javonte Williams.

It appears the Broncos are not in contact to bring Melvin Gordon back, simply because of his asking price, and seeing how Gordon and Williams split carries evenly in 2021, it’s obvious the team’s interest in giving Williams more carries, but other than him, the team has just Mike Boone and Damarea Crockett.

Allgeier will not blow anyone away with his speed, but there have been successful running backs in the NFL in the past that were not the fastest but still made a tremendous impact.

Allgeier could potentially be a power back for the Broncos on goal-line plays.
