Three prospects to avoid for Denver Broncos

3. Any running back or wide receiver at 64

As I’ve thought about this more, I am less and less in favor of the possibility of the Denver Broncos drafting a running back or wide receiver with their highest pick at 64th overall.

I’ve seen the Broncos being mocked this position at 64 a few times, and I think there are a plethora of smarter things to do with this pick.

One thing I believe to be a smarter decision here is to trade down from 64 to acquire more mid-round picks.  George Paton has made it known that he likes having a lot of draft picks, so trading down would be a smart move there.

I also like drafting a bunch more positions at 64, including EDGE, CB, DT, LB, TE, OL, and S.

Honestly, outside of drafting a specialist and quarterback, I would prefer every other position at 64 than a running back or wide receiver.

I think the arguments for the Denver Broncos to do this would be to put a reliable RB2 behind Javonte Williams, so he doesn’t have to carry the entire load.

This makes sense, but there are a bunch of quality free agents who could fill this role, and the Broncos already have Mike Boone on the roster, who could be that RB2.
