Broncos pre-draft presser takeaway no. 2: Russell Wilson is heavily involved

There was a major rift between the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers due to Rodgers’ lack of involvement in the way the team was being built around him.

Given all that Rodgers has accomplished as an NFL player, it was reasonable for him to be upset over the team’s lack of communication regarding some major roster moves, especially the ones that had a direct impact on Rodgers himself.

That lack of communication won’t be a problem for the Denver Broncos and their new franchise quarterback, apparently.

Paton noted in his presser that he, specifically, is in daily communication with Wilson regarding players the Broncos are looking at in this Draft process and that Wilson is already offering valuable input.

"I talk to Russ daily and I kind of tell him our plan, what we’re looking for, and our needs. Russ is a football junky. He’ll want to know what players we’re looking at, and I’ll tell him. He’ll watch them and give me his opinion. He’s a great resource. It’s good having him around. George Paton"

How great is it to have Russell Wilson in orange and blue?

It’s one thing for the team’s quarterback to be kept in the loop on who the team is looking at, but for that guy to actually sit down, watch the prospect play, and offer his opinion?

That’s a refreshing change from what we’ve seen over the last handful of years.

It would be great to have a post-draft press conference from Wilson to hear his thoughts on any of the players selected and what kind of input he had potentially given along the way.

Even though he’s only been on the team for just over a month, Russell Wilson clearly has a ton of stake in the game.
