Three Denver Broncos who could be traded before or during draft
Three Denver Broncos that could be traded before or during draft
3. Dalton Risner, G
Another player on the offensive line who could be moved is Dalton Risner, who has played poorly the past two seasons, after having a very promising rookie season.
Denver has a surplus of interior offensive linemen, and Risner’s stock is trending down the most, I think.
I would bank on Denver taking an offensive lineman or two in the NFL Draft, so Risner might be expendable because of that.
He’s approaching the last year of his rookie deal and does not have the fifth-year option.
Denver could ship Risner off for a mid-late round pick, draft a guard, and reset themselves at this position.
I would also argue that the starting guards for 2022 could be Graham Glasgow and Quinn Meinerz, who are both better than Risner.
The San Francisco 49ers lost Laken Tomlinson to the New York Jets, so perhaps they’d be interested in Risner, who excelled in Rich Scangarello’s outside zone scheme in 2019. Scangs comes directly from the Shanahan coaching tree, so it would be more than a natural fit.
I think it’s a foregone conclusion that one or more moves along the offensive line are still yet to be made.
The Denver Broncos drafting a right tackle is likely, and I think they also take a swing at another player along the interior as well, making some of the current players expendable.
