Denver Broncos/Deebo Samuel trade idea no. 3

Denver Broncos receive:

  • WR Deebo Samuel

San Francisco 49ers receive:

  • WR Tim Patrick
  • OL Dalton Risner
  • 64th pick
  • 2024 2nd-round pick

In this trade, the Broncos send the 49ers two starters on offense plus their top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft in exchange for Samuel.

For Tim Patrick, this would be a full-circle move. He was with the 49ers in his rookie season back in 2017 before the Broncos eventually got him later in the year.

For Risner, this move would give him the opportunity to start in place of the departed Laken Tomlinson, who left the 49ers this past offseason in free agency (Jets).

This trade would allow the Broncos to keep Jerry Jeudy and bring in Samuel. Since we’re on the subject of far-fetched ideas, why not consider the possibility?

I’m sure in any potential trade, the 49ers would want the younger, more cost-effective Jeudy in return for Samuel, but Tim Patrick is a very good veteran player at the position with a reasonable contract, at that.

The selections going back to the 49ers may seem inconsequential but those players could wind up being starters for them as well.

Would any of these trades be enough to beat the first-round picks other teams like the Jets, Lions, Chiefs, or others could offer? Maybe. It all depends on the 49ers’ goals here, because they don’t have to trade away their best offensive weapon.

I think they would prefer player compensation over just draft compensation, and the Broncos could make a competitive offer if that were the case.
