Denver Broncos surprise Draft target: Running Back

I recently dedicated an article looking at three backs the Denver Broncos may not be able to pass on with their top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

There is some validity to the idea that the Broncos could use their top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on the running back position, as cringeworthy as that would be to so many fans who hate that positional value.

If the right player falls to their selection, the running back position is going to be critically important to this team in 2022, even with Russell Wilson.

Consider for a moment — even with Aaron Rodgers playing at an MVP level and winning the award for the second consecutive year, the Green Bay Packers gave 444 combined touches last season to Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, each having over 200.

The Broncos want a committee approach at running back. George Paton has stated on multiple occasions the need for two or three backs in today’s NFL.

The tea leaves are all there and running back is definitely on the table at pick 64, whether everyone likes it or not.

If the RB2 behind Javonte Williams is poised for 200 or more touches this season (or next), this position could very well be prioritized at pick 64 or 75.
