2. Dre’Mont Jones has his breakthrough

Remember the game against the Detroit Lions last year?

Dre’Mont Jones killed an entire drive by the Lions, literally. He ended the game with two sacks, three pass tackles for loss, and a pass deflection. Heading into his fourth and most important season as a pro, Jones will be in a contract year.

Maybe the incentive of nipping at the heels of a multi-million dollar extension pushing Jones to be a consistent force that disrupts not just series, but games. His brilliance has flashed many times and at times, Jones has looked like a force that has the capability of doing as he pleases.

With 12 total sacks over the past two seasons, and 15.5 in his career, Dre’Mont Jones still has potential that is untapped.

With the Denver Broncos planning to play ahead, and the idea of Bradley Chubb and Randy Gregory being on the field with Jones can only make one wonder what his ceiling could be in 2022.

Could he be a double-digit sack guy in 2022?

I think so, actually, I think he will be.

Having a healthy Bradley Chubb and an available and healthy Randy Gregory will free Dre’Mont Jones up and keep the motive of the offensive line honest. Jones has never benefited from playing on a defense that plays with a lead, that should change this season.

Dre’Mont Jones’ fourth season could rival former Denver Bronco and a major contributor to the Super Bowl 50 team, Malik Jackson. This is where I see this heading, I’m just hopeful the Denver Broncos will be able to keep Jones around with a mid-season extension that keeps the trenches strong in 2022 and beyond.

If Dre’Mont Jones plays at a Pro Bowl level, with Bradley Chubb and Randy Gregory collapsing the pocket, Patrick Surtain II will bait and hook quarterbacks as they have to rush through their progressions and this defense will thrive. This entire team will thrive.
