1. Patrick Surtain II follows up on a stellar rookie campaign

The ninth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Patrick Surtain II churned out what was a very successful rookie season. Transitioning into CB1 as a rookie, PS2 has four interceptions, 14 pass deflections, one touchdown, and 58 tackles in 15 games started.

Surtain II is everything that Broncos Country could have hoped for.

In a division with Patrick Mahomes, Derek Carr, and Justin Herbert, having a cheap lockdown cornerback for the next four years will be vital to dethroning the daunting AFC West. Along with Justin Simmons at safety, the Denver Broncos now have two cornerstone pieces in the secondary.

Patrick Surtain II played so well during his rookie season that he was nominated for the first alternative at the cornerback position in the AFC, like teammate Justin Simmons. As far as the secondary goes, the Denver Broncos are in great hands with these two hawking the back end, literally.

Comparisons are hard, but I can’t help but find myself thinking that the Denver Broncos have found their next Champ Bailey type of player. Patrick Surtain II was that good as a rookie and coming from many, he never looked like a rookie.

That was stated quickly as he took an interception to the house during the early stages of preseason. Sure it was preseason, good counter, but it looked like he belonged in the preseason and I think that is what matters.

Patrick Surtain II is as safe as a bet as anyone on their abilities to take the next step in their game and I think he will do just that. Stepping in as CB1 for an entire 17-game schedule, in many potential primetime moments, I think many across the nation will see how good Patrick Surtain II truly is.

The dude is a stud and is just getting started.

Patrick Surtain II will be a Pro Bowler next season, maybe even an All-Pro.
