2. Javonte Williams runs through the Pro Bowl voting committee
Coming off a strong rookie campaign that saw rookie running back, Javonte Williams, gain praise from national media for his “Angry Runs,” I expect Javonte “Pookie” Williams to have an even better sophomore season.
Williams totaled seven touchdowns through the air & ground while rushing for 903 yards and adding 316 through the air.
With Melvin Gordon’s departure from Denver being all but sealed, Williams’ production is expected to take a huge leap in his second season as a pro. Another thing that should help benefit Williams is the hire of Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett.
During his first year as a play-caller with a new team, every offense he called led the NFL in rushing attempts. That may not be the entire case here in Denver with Russell Wilson leading the huddle instead of E.J. Manuel, Kyle Orton, or Blake Bortles, but I certainly expect Javonte Williams to “get his.”
There are a few tough running backs in the AFC along with Williams — Joe Mixon, Nick Chubb, and Jonathan Taylor certainly won’t give him the honor of being selected as a Pro Bowler, but I think Williams will do what Williams does, he will fight for it.
Surpassing 1,000 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns on the ground, around 500 receiving yards and another three touchdowns through the air, along with many more angry runs should bring him his first Pro Bowl nod in the upcoming season.
